Here's a review. My music dealer advised me not to get it. I now have the TLAudio 5001, and I can't tell you how happy I am with that unit.

If you're short on the Avalon money, look at the Sytek mpx (about $1000 for 4 channels) If thats too much, look at the Grace Design 101, about $500. These will offer you pretty professional performance at a decent price. Also check out the Peavy VMP-2, I beleive its called. I havent had ANY hands on with it, but its an excellent two channel for about $700 and will probably kill the Behringer, which I havent heard at all, so its just guesswork, but probably accurate guesswork.

THe Peavey/AMR piece also makes a very nice bass DI, too, according to many people I have spoken with. Search the newsgroups.

I owned the MIC2200, which is the cheaper version of the Behringer preamp, and it actually sounded very good. much better than the much-overhyped mackie VLZ PRO (which i also have). I would venture a guess that the T1953 is pretty good *for the money* simply because all the Behringer stuff shares very similar circuits and preamps.

Yes, there are better units, but the improvement/cost curve starts to lay down pretty flat at over $150 per channel (preamp only).

Peace,
Rick
