The for Dummies books series should tackle the subject of home reccing.

Yo Muse of the Muzeman:

Thanks much for the information. I wish the manual was a bit more organized.

Like, if I put effects on one track, do I need to go through the process again to put the same effects on another track?

I have many other questions but I wish someone who knew the 2816 would write a simple "how to" and make life easier.

It's about time a 2816 book for Dummies came out isn't it?

Have a great Spring.

Hey Hornet,

To put the same effects on another track, simply hit the effect 1 or effect 2 button an raise the fader of he track you want to add effects to.

Good luck!!

Yo Steve of Burgundyband:

Thanks for the information. I'm "assuming" that you have to push the SEL button on the track to add the effects?

I'll experiment and something will happen -- it always does.

Appreciate the help.

Green Hornet,
You don't have to push the SEL button to assign effects to the track, just push the fader(s) up.

I'm still learning the unit myself, just getting into automix, but I'd be glad to help with any questions I can.

Atomictoys,
You said the unit can dither from 24 to 16 when burning to the internal cdr.

My manual shows the bits are truncated,is this something they updated in a new manual release?

If so,do you know where to get it or how to do it?
I e-mailed Yamaha, but have not heard back yet.

If anybody knows about the Waves card, does it allow 5 seperate effects at one time via the 5 aux buses?
That's what I thought the literature said.

The unit only has only 2 dedicated return knobs,so I'm unclear how that would work.

Thanks,
Best to all,
Pete

There is a users group for the 2816 and the 4416 folks, and read the manuel where it say truncated the 8 LSB. I was told buy someone who has 2, 4416 sync'd together that there were dithering options with the later models. Im not sure though if its strictly because of the Waves add on card or not, here is the link, you can look at all the OS updates as well as downloads on patches and improvements.

atomictoyz,

Thanks for the links.
I e-mailed Yamaha and asked them, took them 2 days to answer but they were very nice and answered my question completly.

You have to master to a stereo track before burning to the internal cdr,all you have to do is turn on the dithering for the stereo track before you write it(duh!)
I guess somebody left it out of the manual, figuring it was a no brainer.

Thanks,
Best to you,
Pete
