Hello,

although I normally work with synths and drums I also play guitar. Although I've not used much in my tunes until now, I have recorded some heavy rock style tracks into my latest song.

The thing is that I find them very hard to edit because unlike drums and synths where it is often clear just from the waveform where individual hits or notes start etc it is practically impossible with guitar - all you see is a very dense, fuzzy waveform.

Does anyone have any tips for editing such parts ?

Ideally, I'd like to be able to use Wavelab to correct pitch, chop bits out and especially make nice loops. For example, I'd like to be able to get the same sort of highly-edited sound that is evident at the start of the Linkin Park track 'Points of Authority'.

Are you using a midi click track when you record? If so you will have a Bar/Beat display to editing any types of tracks is pretty easy. If you have to do it all manually then it is very difficult.

Oh yeah, it's all on time and done to a click track, or more precisely drums and bass are already recorded/prgrammed before I record.

Try the zoom feature yet?

I don't know about your program, but what I often do on my VS1680 is to look at the waveform and then use two buttons called "preview to" and "preview from" that basically plays a little bit either up to your current position or from the current position. This is a lot easier than the scrub function that it also has... Maybe you have some "preview to" and "preview from" functions? If that's the case, then try them....
