if so, is it good or not. i know ampeg makes some decent amps.

Don't know much about the guitar but the bass was Japanese made and not very pretty. You can find a few that sold on eBay. My dad found one a few months ago and turned around and sold it for a small profit.

yeah, i found one in a pawn shop yesterday for $100, felt like a pretty sturdy solid guitar, had a number small scratches, but i think i could fix it up to look not bad.

Not until now . . .

i think they sold those as a lower line when they were selling the dan armstrong guitars so the people that couldnt afford the dan armstrongs had another choice. from what i have heard, they arent bad. but i dont think i would pay more than 100 bucks for it. if its got wear and tear on it, i would try to take em down to 50$.

You got that right. The ones made in Japan have plywood bodies! They have a Stud at a local store for $400. I like the vibrato system on it, you can pull the lever both up and down, and it stay is tune well. I was gonna offer them my
'94 mint condition Epiphone LP standard for the guitar, until I found out the Studs have Plywood bodies.. even-though I like the guitar, I can't get past trade that LP or spending $400 for a guitar so cheaply made. I tried getting them to knock the price down to $200, but the lowest they would go was to shave the tax off the purchase. Blah!

I think I had an SG knockoff that said "The Stud" on the headstock...it had a Bigsby on the bridge...it was like 1982 when I had that.

I'm not entirely sure if all of the Stud guitars are made with plywood, I was reading up on them and they have expensive more models with gold plated hardware and such, but it's not clear if they do or do not have plywood bodies unlike the lower models that do for sure.

Big Stud Bass

I have an Ampeg Big Stud Bass. They were only made from '73 to '75. They have brought pretty good prices on Ebay but only because some consider them to be collectible. It really isn't a great playing or sounding bass. It's ok but not remarkable. I bought mine used back in the late 70's for $110.00. Plywood body and heavy. I was all set to replace the original pups to try to improve on the sound until I started reading up on them and realized that some people consider them to be collectibles.
The "Blue Book" runs between $450 for mint to $180 for 60% good condition.
