Anybody want my Firepod for a Firebox?

Straight up trade. I bought the firepod a year ago. It has been racked. Works great, I just don't need more than 2 channels at a time anymore, and I want something that's NOT USB and that can sit on my desk. Doesn't have to be a firebox, I just really REALLY like the pres on my firepod, so I assume the firebox pres would be similar. I'm not in a hurry to get rid of it - just trying to spread some good karma if anybody needs more channels.

It came with cubase or something, but I threw that disk away. The drivers that came with it a year ago are out of date, especially if you've got Vista, but they have Vista drivers online now. So I guess I'm saying I'll send the Firepod and the power adapter to you if you'll send me a firebox with the same. My understanding is that there are now Vista drivers for the Firebox...anybody used them?

(posted in the Rack section as well...I put it here by request).

Let me check into this.

How many channels of analog audio can you record simultaneously over just the firewire connection?

I kinda want something like that so I can go laptop.

i have a Mackie Onyx Satellite FireWire device i could part with. I bought it a few months ago and its still brand spanking new as the day i got it. I still have the box and everything in perfect condition as well. I never even took the base station out of the packaging...i ony used the " pod " as mackie calls it....a handful of times. ill send pics if ya interested. PM sent.

What processor/memory are you running it on now?

AMD Turion 64x2 Mobile Technology TL-64; 2.20 GHz
RAM 1982
32 bit Operating System.
Windows Vista (Ultimate)

If any of that means anything to you, there ya' go. But I ran it fine on an older XP laptop with a slower processor and half of the RAM. It's kind of a wash with Vista taking up a Gig.

It's got 8 analog ins, and it can record 8 at a time with no problem.

From Specs: The first and second channels feature balanced send and return TRS connectors on the rear panel for inserting external effects, EQs, and dynamics processors. Each of the eight input channels features a corresponding TRS output on the rear. MIDI I/O allows integration of MIDI-compatible gear, and S/PDIF digital I/O allows all-digital audio transfers for ultimate sound quality.

Mark - I'll go read your PM now.

Man, looks tempting, except that the phantom power voltage isn't really 48V...it's 48 with a "+/-" of 20%, which ain't what I need. Now, I understand that having lower voltage isn't much of a problem normally, but it is with one of my mics...for sure.

From what I've read, the mic pres are pretty nice.

The pres are fantastic imo..ive heard the pres on the firepod and to me the onyx's pres sound better.as for the phantom power..ive never noticed the "+/-" of 20%..but then again..i used them only a couple of times. :)

Well, I hate to crap on my Karma here, but my bass player asked if he could trade me his Firebox for the Firepod. I owe him. Sorry for the useless thread.

Great!

I don't have the money for a new Firepod anyway.

Glad you both got what you wanted. And this way, if it turns out to be defective, you know where to find him.

And even though we're on other sides of a certain 'fence', I hope we're still cool.
