Reel deep thoughts...
I have two I believe, brand new old stock in original boxes and plastic...

This is 456 equivalent +6 tape...many people like the sound better than 456. Won't go sticky...good stuff.

I haven't had a 1/2" machine in years now. Time to get rid of stuff.

PM me if interested.

BASF SM 911 is the best!!! How did I miss this? I betcha they're gone by now, aren't they. :/

Tim, I still have 'em but you're #3 in line. #1 had to think about it and has gone AWOL. #2 is holding the line. If that doesn't pan out I'll send ya a pm.

I saw this when you first posted it...and had it been a year or so ago when I was still using my 1/2" Fostex G-16 for tracking, I would have jumped on it, but since I got the Otari 2"....the G-16 has been sitting idle, and I have like 2-3 cases of virgin BASF/EMTEC 911 still in my tape closet.

I'm reluctant to let mine go just yet, as I still have the G-16, and have no plans to sell it at this time. I feel like need to have some kind of tape multitrack backup machine if the Otari ever has an issue, though at this point I would just do whatever I had to, to repair the Otari if it ever stopped working, rather than go back to the 1/2".....so I may bite the bullet and do like you one of these days, sell the G-16 and the tape stock.
I was also kinda keeping an eye out for a 1/2" 2-track that didn't cost and arm-n-leg....that way I could use the 1/2" tapes on...but 1/2" 2-tracks in operating condition don't show up too often, or they do cost an arm-n-leg. :D

Well, now that yours are spoken for I wont feel like Im hijacking your thread. :)

I have a reel of 3M 996 1/2" in the plastic library case. HOWEVER, it is a 14" reel. The 14" reels carry exactly twice the tape as the 10.5" versions so you could split it into two, if you have a machine that can handle 14" reels.

PM if interested.

Have I told you lately that I love you?

Seriously though, RMGI SM911 goes for something like $80.00 a reel, and IMO vintage BASF is a superior tape. So you have a bit of a gold mine there. :)

You have any in 1/4" ??

No, sorry I don't. I'd be keepin' it if I did though, but I'm set with the two cases of NOS GP9 pancakes I got for $30 shipped...with a good condition black anodized Technics takeup reel...which I sold for...wait for it...$30.

I'm still so tickled with that one and its been a few years since the score.
