Hey guys!
I listen to a lot of Devin Townsend, and I noticed this really cool thing he does - he gets this really kind of airy, thick vocal sound, which is obvious multitrack, which I can kind of get in person, but it sounds horrible recorded. Examples below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0LCQFB5peA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRFHR19EW34
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB67ty2_YQg
Is it just about sticking the mic up really close, so you capture all this, in lack of a better word, sibilance, or do you have any other tips?
Thanks a bunch - I'm not looking for a step guide, just maybe some pointers
