Don't you have to get a premit to do such a thing. I personally have always wanted to do that. It is even more cool if you can sit outside of some place like a coffee house.

I've talked to a few people and it seems that you don't need a permit in Texas. Something about if you go out and ask people for money you need one, but If you just open your case and they drop it in without you doing anything more then you don't.

I think that I'd put a buck or two in there to start with just so they get the idea.

firebird, you should set up inside your tattoo shop and see what happens...you might make a couple extra bucks

Yep, you should definitly use the resonator guitar.

There was this blind guy that used to play out in front of a little restaurant in Greenwood MS when I was a kid spending time a few summers at my grandfather's uncle's place in Tchula. We'd go there cause it was the big city.

Anyway, this black guy played a chrome National with a cup on the end of the peghead. A harmonica too. Wish I'd have paid more attention, I remember him as big real good. There I was, right there at the crossroads and didn't even know it.

I've tried that a few times, but I always get sidetracked when somebody has a question about tattoos.

when i was in New Orleans in the early 1980's i played on the street alot.....the money is better playing on the street than doing clubs. i used to play on the street for a couple of hours, go to pappa joes music bar and play with a 3 peice group for $5 an hour, play on the street some more, then do a night time gig for $40. i would usually make 30 or 40 bucks for a couple of hours on the street.

one time a drunk due with a cowboy hat came up to me while i was playing on the street and said "can you play "me and bobby magee"? I said "sure" and did it for him.....he dropped $100 in the tip can and said "none of these damn bar bands can play the sumbitch...thanks"

you never know when something like that will happen on the street

Yup!
you never know...
On halloween once I got tipped a pumpkin (little bitty bugger, too!)
On another occasion a strange looking little rock looking thing that turned out to be opium.
