Any intrest in a new kind of contest...

I've got a friend who makes short movies (12 minutes) just for fun, and thought it would be intresting if some people would like to try their hand at creating soundtracks, no real winner just a exersise in creativity, of course if he did use it in the final film that person or persons would be given credit (sorry but no cash though), he may or may not enter them in a film contest. He just finished one (which is his 4th) and did the soundtrack in GarageBand, So it may be a while before the next one, or he may decide to see what others can come up with for this latest one.

Sounds interesting. I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Is there a place to view a clip of his film(s)?

Sorry scrubs, looks like there's not enough interest, I've got another forum that also has sections geared toward musicians "Scoring and Orchestration", "Music theory and sound design", "composing" ..., I'll try there.

P.S. I really like your songs.

Sounds like you want some sucker to make the soundtrack for free and you think that this pitch will get people competing for the job...that doesn't pay.

That it, nothing to hide. Not pay but credit, not that it's going to come to anything, that's the thing indie people do, beg and barrow, and in the process making connections that may come to something in the future. I could say that the winner could be paid but that's not likely to happen seeing as this is not a commercial project and they're already in the hole, it's just for the sake of doing something creative.

I just re-read it. It seems to me that someone was trying to get someone else to do his work for him. And for free.

That's too much work. If Danny Elfman (and trust me, I don't compare to his talent) gets paid much bank for his work, I think you should pay whoever you get to do this. And if you can't, maybe you should break out the keyboard and get busy....

I've been trying to get him to do an action or scifi flim next, that's what I could do good, The film he has out now is not in my musical area. I'd love to get a chance to have my work heard at a few film festivals and posabbly get some paying jobs. Oh well.

For those of you not familiar with how the starting indi-film/composer-chance to build your resume goes, here's a place to start, sure there are some jobs that will pay for someone with no track record but most will not, Just thought I would give people a chance to at least have something they could show if they really do want to get into the industry. This is probably where he'll post it:
