With my vocal almost naked in the intro, I needed reverb on it just to feel comfortable,
I feel exactly like that with myself.

On the line "Any favor you like", I think the BU vocals could be a little louder for the 'any favor you' part (but not 'like').
I"m not sure about the lo-fi part, but maybe the volume of the guitar could come up just a little there.
Oh, the OHs are panned too wide.(just so you know its me)
Thanx Ray. These lyrics are less my style, Not much cynicism...I actually have the word "love" in this song. I never use "love". I don't know what got into me.RAMI,
It all works for me - impressive stuff.
I look forward to hearing the real SG.
What arey'gonnado with the Epi now?
I enjoy your cynical/sarcastic threads through lyrics.
Just re-tracked the intro guitars. Just as I suspected, the humbuckers on the Gibson just didn't have the right sound for this particular tune, so I used the Epi again. I'm actually relieved to know that the Epi might still get used once in a while.I think the Epi still has its' place. In fact, I'm not sure the Gibson's humbuckers would work for this tune. The P-90's seem perfect for it. So, it still might see some recording time on future tunes.
I like pop rocks!!!!I'm not going to critique the mix for nits. Others can do that. I still have the other version and I have listened to it several times.
I will give you my opinion on that one vs this one.....my over all big picture impression.
This one has more attitude in the vocal and has a more rock feel. The other one has a sweeter sounding bubblegum pop feel. (not in a bad way)
So there, they are both good. This one rocks that one pops.
does that make sense?

So where is this retracked version?
Thanx a lot, Bull.Man I listen to this and realise how far I've got to go to put a mix half as good as this together. I like the little backwards thing at 2.00. Lots of great attention to detail in the sonic landscape. Performances are top notch too, very nice tune
It seems good to me. I think it's hard deciding on the little details when you're close to having something finished. I think it's good as is. The lo-fi part is fine. It doesn't do anything to really add or take away from the song so... lol.![]()
Hi there!
Very cool song, great playing - did you play all instruments and sing? Only mixing note is the crash panned L is a bit loud for my ears. Have to vote "yay" on the low-fi and reverse perc, I dig it! What amp with the epiSG?
- Paul
Thanx buddy.
Didn't read through all the stuff, but my 2c is worth what you pay for it.
What I noticed most is the kick. You've upped your game from your standard kick to a new, boomin', in-yer-face, kick! Love it. Almost too loud in spots, but it doesn't take away from the bass or anything else, so it's right where it needs to be!
Right after the lo-fi it almost sounds like you're doing a bit of bass chording (although it sounds more like you played different notes on the lo-fi and regular and they overlapped.) It's beautiful in any case.
When you retracked did you use any reverb on the intro guitars. They just sound really naked. And then the voice kicks in just a bit wet and it sounds just a bit off (personal opinion).
All in all this is OVER THE TOP, BABY!![]()
Awesome man. Thanx a lot.I just came from listening to Can't Buy a Thrill, and this sounded a really good followup. I haven't read the previous four pages. You know me better than that. Loving that mixer wizard stuff at 1.58. BVs make this one of your best.
Thanx dude!!!Love it man, great tune. No Crits
