I walk the line
I've got a Boss BD-2 and I need help with settings. I know it has to sound better than this, or so many guys wouldn't use them.

I've got my choice of going into 3 different small tube amps or a small solid-state, or just direct into a POD, V-Amp, or J-Station. Humbuckers, P-90, or single-coil Strat or Tele. I've got it all, except a Marshall or Matchless or the like. No big screaming amps here.

Help, Mr. Wizard!

BTW, I'm looking for yer basic bluesy tube amp sound, or anything else that this can do well.

Thanks in advance.

I get a good sound by keeping the gain down (just over a quarter of the way or less) and turning the level to a point a bit louder than the clean signal. Also make sure the battery is fresh.

I'll bet you were telling yourself the same thing after buying 3 different small tube amps, a small solid-state, a POD, V-Amp, and J-Station.

So it seems that you've identified the problem.

I believe I have been pwnd.

However, GTRTony's answer was somewhat more of what I had in mind.

I may be delusional, but I can't believe that the only way I can get a decent tube amp sound (and remember, I'm looking for something bluesy) is with a cranked high wattage amp.

Any more Blues Driver suggestions?

Hey, GTRTony

I get a good sound by keeping the gain down (just over a quarter of the way or less) and turning the level to a point a bit louder than the clean signal. Also make sure the battery is fresh.

I tried this, and it's not bad. I haven't tried it on all my amps and guitars yet, but it's a pretty good starting point.

Thanks, man, I really appreciate it!

And ocnor, I get what you're saying, but if I had a Marshall stack, I wouldn't be able to use it, except at JF, so that's why I didn't go for the obvious.

But thanks for the comments. I get it.
