ok, i really am a novice, but how do I connect my Korg d8 to my pc?

I have Goldwave ready to go, but what do is use?

SCSI?

help. i'm a little blinded by science.

Im not an expert but normally I think you would go from your midi out from the korg to the joystick in on the sound card in your pc. You will need a special midi cord to do this available in any large music store and most small ones. Somehow Goldwave will have to recognize the joystick port as the midi port and you should be able to set this up somehow. The korg will have to be set somewhere in its parameters to communicate with the pc properly; if you have the manual read the section for this application. I have a alesis qs8 and a mac so am not sure of the setup on pc. I think all you will need to buy is the midi cord?
I am sure someone will be along with the real answers soon.
Welcome to the site.

Korg D8 is a multi-tracker I think.

You could connect a cable between the main stereo output on your D8 to the line input of your soundcard.

Hit record and go.

What cable you need depends on whatever interface is on your D8.

Sounds like you want to mix down to your PC, goldwave is a good prog. Get the cable and your set.

You most likely need a 1/8" stereo female to two RCA mono's for the cable.

Sorry about that marylou, I forgot all about direct and was only thinking midi.

Depending on the connections, you might need RCA to 1/4" adapters.

peace...

p.s. I don't know if you need them (the adapters) or if you don't need them, because I haven't seen the back of the Korg unit. :)

Yo MaryLOU:

And, after you get all set up, get an old fake book; look up the tune, "Marylou," and record it.

After all, it's named after you.

Green Hornet
:D :D :p

Thanks for the advice, i'm going shopping for stuff.

Which Marylou song do you mean, Green Hornet?

Yo MaryLou:

It's an old standard....I'll see if I have it and send you the words.

Green Hornet

Hornet...Is that the Rickie Nelson song?Hello Marylou good by heart....Dam brain lock..LOL

Don

Yo DEVILL:]

I don't think it's Rickie's tune; this one is an old standard which is in the very first fake book I got when I was 14 years old.

It's a simple tune with schmaltzy "ball room" lyrics.

I sent the words to Mary Lou but maybe she thinks I was born in 1929 and hasn't replied. Heh, heh.

If you have the old fake book, title of the tune is MARY LOU.

Green Hornet:D :p

hey!

Hey Green Hornet! how do you know I wasn't born in 1929!

i must confess i'm not a real marylou. How many of those do you think there are in England!

My personal favourite is "Mary mary" by the Monkees.
