Acoustic Mirror is Sound Forge Plugin. Here's a promo blurb...
Fun with Acoustic Mirror Impulse environment simulator in Sony's Sound Forge
By Frank Moldstad
Impulse responses allow the characteristics of any acoustic environment to be sampled and applied to any sound, with sometimes amazing results. This opens up many potential creative sound design and recording applications. You can sample the acoustics of a tunnel, a cathedral, or any space by recording a sharp sound (like hand claps) in the environment -- or for more precise measurements, record the sound of test tones played in the environment.
The resulting acoustics signature can then loaded into a convolution reverb plugin, such as the Acoustic Mirror effect included in Sony 's Sound Forge , and applied to any audio file. But you don't have to make your own impulses. Sound Forge includes dozens of them in 20 categories to start with, and it also includes several test tones for use in capturing acoustical environments. Also, a quick web search will unearth many sources offering free impulse downloads.
In this article, we'll present a sample of some of the included impulse effects in Sound Forge 8 applied to various files, which have been saved in MP3 format. Dramatic differences can be heard in comparisons between the original files and the processed files. It should be noted that Acoustic Mirror has been part of Sound Forge for several versions, and is not new in version 8.
