Another...what do i need question

ok...here is my deal. I have pc that i will be recording with its a pent 2 450, 64 ram 6.4 gig harddrive, 16 meg voodoo2 card and a soundcard that im not sure about.

I took recording classes and mixing in school but was never taught what was needed for mixing and recording on a pc. I'm looking into obtaining cakewalk product and will be recording and mixing heavy metal bands. The same as every newbie... what else do i need? I keep thinking i might need a midi interface card or something. The band I manage alread have preamps so i don't need to get that. They also have a four track mixer.
anything else missing from this list?

There are probably ten posts a day that ask that exact question. I think what you need is the ambition to look them up. Don't worry, I'm sure some poor soul will take the time to come in here and spoon feed you the information.

You have to find out about that soundcard. Your processor and memory are adequate. Your hard drive is small. If it's not at least UDMA/33 compliant then you will most likely need a new one.

Now you need some software. http://www.fasoft.com

Hint: you can use that 4 track as a mixer. It won't be great, but it should work.
