It's an amazingly great and awesome piece of crapola that would make even Behringer proud!

;)

Definitely a "not worth having" piece of gear...

YMMV.......

Bruce actually is a Canadian secret agent trying to make mackie THE pre's to have!:D

Re: Bellari MP105

I second Bruce's comment. It was my first mic pre and the wall wart made a very audible hum-gave it to a friend for free to mess around with (we're still friends after that-by the way!)

Best bet would be to wait for the upcoming "battle of the titans"
between Studio Projects VT-1 mic pre and Fmr. Audio's RNMP coming out soon. My money's on the VT-1 as far as appealing to us home recordists as it will be priced less than the RNMP,
and will probably offer a great "bang for the buck" like their
microphones.

I haven't used one but but from what I've read in several different places, if you gotta get the 100 dollar tube things, the ART is the better one out there. A lot of guys with expensive stuff even use em for "effect" pres.

ah, whadda I know....

Beyond that, I agree with chessparov except that I bet on the FMR! (Not to say I won't end up with both:rolleyes: )

Although cheaper, the VT-1 is probably gonna have a heck of a time hanging with the RNMP. Thats just speculation, since no one has heard either. I'm hoping for $350 after shipping and all, street price, on the RNMP. Now, if its really great, thats a really great price, and it should be way below price-complaint range, and there wont be much reason that anyone will be without at least one. Ya know? :) We'll have a shootout between em, for sure. Can't wait.

It always helps to break down a word to get to it's true meaning:

B-e-l-l-a-r-i

Be: to exist

lar: poor, not good

i: The third letter in the word Shite.

So I guess it's pretty obviuos what all of this means......

I am anxiously awaiting the as-yet-to-be-released SUPA. The "Somewhat-Usable Pre Amp," a somewhat-but-not-quite competitive alternative to the RNMP. List price is rumored to be 50 cents/channel. Hollow-state, Class-I (for "incomplete"). Listed as TF/TL . . . Transformer-ful or transformerless, depending on user's subjective point of view.

I've heard it is scheduled for release sometime after Focusrite dumps their platinum series in favor of the "recycled aluminum" series. Which should sit well with the ultra-budget-conscious as well as environmentalists, Al Gore, and Hippies.

Okay, so when the hell are these these things coming out? I've got about $600 to blow, and I'm trying to decide between a used Two-channel Fucusrite Green Machine, A dbx 586 (also 2-channel), or a Two-channel Presonus MP-20 I can get used for pocket change.

. . . Or I may just spend the money on one channel of the Grace Design, and load up on a bunch of Midiman / M-Audio 's to round things out untill my ship comes in. I'm leaning towards the Green Machine . . . two whole channels . . . winner of a super-sweet TEC award in '97 . . . and hey, it is focusrite. Then again Rip Rowan gave the dbx's a rave review a while back . . . but he seems to be the only one who's ever had ANYTHING to say about them.

I'm rambling again. Someone please chime in with some sound advice. Bruce, you seem to hold the Green critters in high regard. You think that's the way to go?

No... not high regard -- I just think that if you're looking at Focusrite, one should start looking at the Green series and higher, and not bother with their platinum stuff...........

The Red series is something to hold in high regard though!

Bruce

Tube, where are you finding info on this? FMR's producing it, right?

What about Bellari's RP series rack mount range............are they crappy as well or can they be taken a bit more seriously?

ChrisO
