Ok...got the studio to the point I want it, now I need a good quality pre to round everything out. Here is what I have it boiled down to, but I am open to any and all suggestions. My *max* is $700....I don't need compression, and have a RNC so I didn't want to go with the stip route ala Focusrite Twin Track, etc.... Just a nice, single pre.

1. Grace 101
2. RNP
3. GT Brick
4. Summit Audio 2BA-221
5. True Systems P Solo

watcha recordin'?

That would probably help huh....DOH

Acoustic guitars
Electric guitars
Vocals

Drums will be handled by a DR-880 and Bass will go direct though either a Pod or another effects unit I have. I have the following mics.

Rode NTK
Sennheiser MD421
SM-57
Sennheiser 835
ATM-2020 (not a bad mic at all)

Thr RNP gives you a shot at stereo, so I would go that way. If you absolutely don't want to get a couple sdc's and treat your acoustic guitar, then the Grace is very nice as is the Brick.

that is easy.

the DAV BG1..it has miles on all those you mentioned. rich, detailed, finished record sound...

Mark Knopfler just bought a rack of them, as did david gilmour.

680 bucks. two channels of grammy winning decca sound..Was designed by an engineer at Decca to give them the best sound possible...that is what he came up with. trust me on that one. Sonic Albert uses one as well. Google it...you wont see one bad thing said about it. i have owned grace pres..and have seen many comparison threads about the RNP, where users said the RNP didnt come close to it...I say its your best bet...

i think you could be buying Adesigns or sebatron preamp . One of these type of valve preamplifiers has different color if you need it.
the grace preamp is very clean with no color but this could be good for acoustic guitars .
