Why does he need a mixer.....Im convinced that unless your in a pro studio that is doing analog summming or you have a mixer with outs on every channel, that computer recording does not require a mixer...just do it on your computer.....unless you are talking about a mixer for routing outputs into various monitoring devices...otherwise there is no point.

the guy has a soundcard that comes with a little mixer unit

it looks pretty decent from what i saw at the website

it says it has a bunch of ins but they are 1/4 stereo with apparently each jack counted twice

anyway it looks like he has 3 holes but none of them are xlr

i use a tascam us-122 usb interface which has 2 holes

i use a mixer (behringer 602a) for convenience and i love it because it has extra holes so i can leave stuff set up - keyboard guitar bass

i use the control room out for tuners - a boss and a peterson v-strobe

i use the effects loop for a chorus and i can adjust the amount of send and return on each channel - a feature worth the entire cost of the mixer

do i absolutely need it to record on a computer? no of course not

does the guy need a mixer? probably not

behringer mixers are so cheap versatile that i doubt anyone would regret buying one

Yeah you use it to route things and to keep things from making a mess...not actually in the mixing or recording process....not directly any way... with three grand though i spose you could get a euro desk...if i had that kind of money lyin around...anyways with the eurodesk you can analog mix because each channel has an indicidual out
