This is a song I posted a while back that we did one night in December. It's mainly a piano, fiddle, vocal ditty with lots of backing instruments. It had no percussion. PoeticIntensity kindly added some drum tracks (thank you).

We only had one evening to do the recording, so the timing wasn't great. i spent some time correcting about 800 timing errors. Feel free to do more correcting if you have the time and something sounds off to you (I'm sure there are plenty more). The files (12) can be downloaded here:

Let me know if you're in, and I'll prepare a folder for your mix(s). Poetic and I will judge this. I'll send one of our CD's to the winner. If you don't like it, it makes a good coaster for your morning coffee. Best of luck.

Can you post a sample of the song before we decide to download the stems...want to make sure its something I can get into when mixing.

Thanks

I'll give it a shot. Need something fresh to get my mind out of my own music for a bit.

Damn man..620MB...slow server.

Interested in the contest though, so I'll let it go :) Thanks for posting!

If I can get the file to download, I'll probably take a stab at this. So sloooooooow!

I was getting about 1mb/sec last night. Kind of annoyed after I downloaded the full folder, half the files were corrupted so I had to go back and download them individually

Great tune though! It's been a fun mix so far. A bit of a challenge dealing with the heavy bleed on the drum mics, but I like that, not used to having to deal with it so I'm definately learning something.

Just wanted to post and say I had no problems with the downloads...no corrupt files...they didnt take to long to download.

Just wanted to say that in case people were discouraged about downloading.

Im enjoying the song and the playing in it is pretty good as well...nice stuff...few timing issues however I still think it sounds good.

I downloaded each file individually but also had no problems. I took a shot at the mix. I haven't had the opportunity to work on this style of music much so it was a fun listen.

Where exactly do we upload the finished mix?

800 fixed timing errors, no rough draft song preview, and comments of corrupted files and slow d/l makes me hesitant.

How about a rough mix for these things to decide if one wants to listen to screaming death metal or operatic punk...before taking the plunge?

No punk, death metal, etc.. It's a slow swingin' blues ditty. When I said 800 timing errors, I was engaging in hyperbole. It just seemed like 800.

Remember, this is just for fun.

Upload to your normal file hosting site with a link so we can all hear it.

I'm interested. And enjoy your vacation!

Yeah, that would be great! I just bombed Greg's contest, so let's see how this goes. :D

why not!..

Count me in.

I am ready to go.

Count me in, too. I'm totally swamped with work right now but I'll try to make some room...

Yeah, vacation... those days where you don't work. I almost forgot. That would be nice.

I haven't done one of these for a while and I always lose. So definitely, yes. I can get a read on how off my new subsub-optimal studio set-up is.

I'd like to try it too.
It would fun and probably humbling to me.

This was started 4 days ago. I hope I am still in port so I can get in on it...

is this still going to happen...I'm in

Where are you guys?

I'm in. I'll download the files tonight and have some fun with it. Mixing in a less-than-suitable environment... so bear with it.
