Just curious of opinions on voice. For the record the first verse I was trying to do a telephone type sound but it didn't come out right, less mixing on the chorus. Not a full song and it's just me over a karaoke version. Only 2 or 3 people have ever really heard me sing, always nice comments but I figure they didn't want to hurt my feelings.

I'd rather some brutal honesty here. Should I quit trying to make covers or if I keep working on it is it decent.

thanks for the input.

Sometimes it takes a while to get a response for some reason.

It's not bad at all! Overall, your pitch is pretty good, and you've got a nice tone. The rhythm is a little shaky here and there, but that'll improve with time.

You should definitely not give up. Keep on working at it; you have a great start!

Good luck! :)

Thanks. I took a couple vocal lessons but I could never get comfortable singing in front of anyone so I quit. (I also moved out of town so that didn't help). I love singing, but it's hard to tell when people are just being nice and you're awful. I figured if anyone would be honest it would be an anonymous internet forum. I'll keep practicing and working on some different songs.

thanks for the listen

Yeah I know what you mean. But yeah ... you definitely have the potential for sure. Now it just takes practice! Keep at it!

thanks for the words beagle. Definately going to keep at it.

To be honest, when I heard the first heard the telephone type, I didn't think much of it. But when your real voice came out, I was wow. You got a great voice! And this is coming from an Asian and I don't hear much western stuff. So you will sell albums overseas too haha.

Also, I really feel how good is my voice or singing goes back to how good your recording is. Unless someone is really good, they cannot tell the difference between a quality recording and a good singer I feel.

And this is what I learned. Just do it because you love it and try to improve on it as much as you can. If you get famous or sell a lot of albums, that's great. If not , that's fine too.

thanks everyone.. Going to upload one more in a new thread so it will get some looks. in the mp3 clinic.. little to no effect on the new one, just eq and verb.

Careful, people here tend to want to pull punches, because some folks can't handle it. Even when frequencies and amounts are given...

Vocal very thin, i like the stage they are set on. That panning of piano is cool. but the vocals never really show up, because of the 100% rev-reverb wash over them. At 2:30 vocal has gone...because of effects...If it's a shout, think about call response, cut the vocal hard left and hard right. make it people talking. The center of the mix is too cluttered with mid piano and harmonics of the other panned keys. I had to stop at that point. Plus as for song writing, do you think, the two chords you used is enough? It's kinda dirge like. Set my forebearers on a flaming ship to burn at sea?

Put your vocals up front, and let us hear it.

I thought it sounded pretty good, for a guy with less than 100% confidence.;)

Which is EVERYbody, I may add.:D

I put up another in the mp3 clinic and someone suggested just a clip of my guitar and me. So I'll be working on that and posting it up soon.
