The mix is harsh and mega squashed. It sounds like you probably started with good sounds and tracked things decently, but damn, you squashed it so hard to make it loud, it now sounds terrible.

I think it's pretty harsh also. Lots of high end, crispy crash cymbals, guitars, etc. The snare has not punch, the kick is there, but on the weak side. Don't know how squashed it is, I see movement on the meters so it's not brickwalled.

I like the song, good performance and arrangement.

Here's a redo per suggestions. I guess it was quashed a little, it's so hard when working with the clean to distortion songs to get the right compression. Maybe the -4.5db rms on the distortion part was a little too hot. Here's a -6db rms version instead. Also took a little off the top freq eq to settle some harshness. Hope this worked. Thanks guys.

Not a bad tune at all, although a bit too long. Guitars sound pretty good, but the drums are indistinguishable during the heavy parts.

I think the guitar playing is solid. I think the guitar sound is a bit cold sounding. It has the trademark amp modeler sound. The lead guitar is pretty harsh sounding.

I'd back off the vocal effects. They come and go too fast - they're there, then they're not, then they're back, etc. There are too many different vocal sounds. Some of them really wash out the sound.

Guitars have a lot of reverb on them. That kind of makes for a dated sound. That might be what you want. But if not, you'd probably want to back off the verb.

You might be able to turn up the bass a couple of dbs.

For, rhythm guitars, I've been using Guitar Rig 3 for the most part. It really depends on the type of guitar part it is. I just can't get a good palm mute sound tracked with the SM58 I've been using. At least not one I'm happy with. Have been able to get a close match with my amp thru Guitar rig, so I use that when doin a palm mute heavy track. I guess I'll have to wait till I can afford a better mic. I didn't actually use any reverb on the guitars, just layered them. Used a slight delay between tracks to eliminate some phasing, so that might be what your hearin. I'm not actually a big fan of bone dry guitars in metal. There's something about it that annoys me. I'm more of an in your face wall of guitars type of guy:D. This is actually the first draft. I'm gonna go back to it in a few days with some fresh ears and perspective and tweak some eq's and levels. Thanks for the feedback guys

I'm listening to the updated version. Never listened to the original.

Dude... Love the guitars on intro.. I really hope the rest of the band keeps up with them guits!!!

Wow... The guitars during the slow parts sound horribly hollow... Uhhh.. Yeah... Don't like the slow parts at all because of that.

Nice grit in the vocals on all parts. No nits there.

I'm sorry, but half-way through the song, the drums are killing the vibe of this song, and have been the whole way. They're ...... bad. Both the playing (programming) and the sounds. The snare sounds like something that should be used in a Karen Carpenter song. I want to feel like the snare is smashing me in the face with a spiked baseball bat. Instead, it sounds like a nice fluffy magic wand lightly tapping me on the shoulder. Kick is .... AWOL? Yeah.. Gotta work on those drums. I'd get rid of all drums and start from scratch, using your favorite metal as a reference.

Well, I went back and cleaned it up a bit. Did some layering on the snare to give it a different sound. I wasn't all that happy with it either. I guess you get what you get with samples:o.

Yeah that seems to be the consensus, so I went back and played with some eq to bring some fullness. Was walkin a tightrope with the acoustic guitar/bass low freq battle, tho I think I got.

Thanks!

Thing is, I don't want it to sound like the usual metal. Everything sounds the same lately. I.E. that annoying clickity click kick, what is that anyways? If the drums are killin the song, I guess that's not good either. But, then, I'm not aiming for the drums to be the focal point of the song. I want it to have that groove that throws you off, really. Seems to have worked LOL:D

Here's the new mix:
