Is there a pause button when just doing midi? Sometimes in big classical stuff I want to pause and place a marker exactly where it stopped. How can I do this?

Do you mean while recording midi ... or playing it back?

Click the Play button or the spacebar while it's playing and that will pause it.

To put a marker there, hit F11. You can do this on the fly, that is, set the marker at the given moment and then go back and edit them later if you need to.

Thanks, man. I was just wondering about this myself. I'm bad about reading the instructions, and was almost forced to.... :D

When I hit play/spaceber, it goes back to the beginning or the last marker.

In Sonar 5, you have to hit Ctrl-Spacebar, to pause. I finally read that in the instrucions.

Go to Options > Global. There is a setting for "On Stop, Rewind to Now Marker." When this is checked and you stop playback, it will go back to wherever you started from. If you uncheck this and hit stop, it will remain at the stop point.

IMHO the default for this should be unchecked, but for some reason Cakewalk checks this as the default.
