Some more questions..

When I get headphones, should I get open or closed back headphones? Or should I have closed back for in the studio, and open back for the control room?

Has anybody used the Samson Mixpad mixers? Are they good for the home-studio?

Can you use a powered mixer in a studio? Is it bad for the soundcard, or for the sound if you have to turn it down too much?

If you are buying headphones for a home studio I think you want closed ear headphones so that a condenser mic won't pick up the sound bleeding out of the phones when you are recording. There is a huge difference between the sound, character, design, and feel of different brands of headphones and you just have to go listen for yourself. I like the Sony MDR-7506.....they seem to be sealed well and sound pretty natural, however it's the only model of Sony that I like because some have a hyped high-end, etc.
