Another Christmas Song

i think the vox could stand to come up a bit, to me it feels like the keys are competing with them. but this is really sweet. ray was right about someone grabbing her up if it'd been ready earlier :)

Thanks Ray - I really do appreciate the kind words.... :)

I've uploaded a new orchestrated version. It's built from the latest base track and David's orchestration track that he sent me. It was good practice lining up and blending tracks in Cakewalk. If you get a chnace to listen to it let me know how the balance is. :)

Good balance. Ultimately, you should have every track seperately, currently Gerry is working with only a stereo track of all the orchestra stuff together. However, its a really good balance and the orchestra stuff comes through.

Excellent song Gerry. I agree, this should be on the radio someday.

Gerry & David,
The blend/balance is good.
I do have one concern - it's probably just my bad ear but is there a clash between the last note in the very 1st bass run & the backing?
Nice the way David picked up the main melody on the strings in just the right spots.
I like the way the solo builds up from those little runs!

Nicole, David, Ray....
Thanks for checking it out. I'm not 100% on the mix but you're right - it's two wav files being mixed so not much I can do to the individual tracks.... Ray - let me know what the 0:00 time is approximately and I'll have a listen to the bass...

Gerry,
Like I said it's probably my ear but: 0.02 & 0.08 I think the same note.

Nicely done....I've been out of town, so slacked off on listening....:o

Great version guys....listening to the one with David's orchestra....:D

Lovely song... :)

One of the guitars is out of tune a bit there... the whole mix is quite mid-heavy.

The David K orchestration adds just the right ambience... Love the big chimes!

This is not a criticism, just an observation: By the 2nd bar of the intro I was thinking Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again, Naturally"... the groove is very similar. I love that song, but it's not exactly an upper, and not one you want your Christmas tune sounding like, but then I'm a geek and a nerd, so there you go.

I've decided I need to do a whole Christmas CD, so I gotta start now. Two down, 10 to go... :)

Well done! I'd love to be able to write my own...

Thanks BigBubba and Danny.Guitar...

It took me a while to get a copy without any crackles in it (only 6 mixdowns before I got a clean one. dirty power I guess...:D

No, that's usually processor/memory/disk I/O bandwidth issues. Suggestion: reboot clean before the mixdown... minimize any resource contention you can (disable A/V programs and the like)

Thanks Phil - I appreciate the listen and the feedback. Your Christmas songs are very well done. I thought your CD contained original songs???? You definitely have the skills to write great songs so I'm expecting some originals on your Christmas CD :D Maybe with your FIL singing....

DavidK's orchestration takes this to another level completely IMO. Wish I had .001% of his skills :D

With regards the crackling, I will reboot before mixing down to see if that solves the problem. It's intermittent and only occurs once in a long while. I can go for months without any problems then it will pop up.

Nice tune ido. I thought David's additions really added the sprinkling of snowflakes that topped it off
