Hey,
I'd just like to thank you fine gentlemen for all of the discussion regarding the MXL 603s. I was in the market for a mic to be used for recording acoustic guitar and by lurking here and reading what everyone had to say about all of the different options I was able to decide on the 603s as the best, most economical choice for my home recording use. It arrived yesterday and I must say that I'm very pleased with the improvement in sound that this mic has brought. I tried the "over the shoulder" placement and the sound I get is just incredible. My friend has an Oktava MC012 from the Soundroom and these ears can not tell any difference between the two. I'm so glad that there was an alternative for me...after reading all of the controversy regarding QC with the Oktavas, I decided that I did not want to go down that road and with the $80 price tag of the 603s, I must say that I feel very confident that I made the right choice.
Harvey, the reports of your test really helped me make this decision and I thank you for what seems to be a unbiased analysis of 603s....
