another 421 question

i have this sennheiser md421-u-5 and i just opened the back and noticed that the black wire <im guessing the ground> is not connected to anything. its freely floating around in the mic. Im assuming this is not normal and i have not plugged the mic it to test it yet. anyways should i solder the black cord to the part that the other black cord it touching?

Whatever that wire is, it looks like it supposed to be soldered to that post on the left.

yes thanks. i looked up some more info and i was right about it being the ground. just put it back on. thanks for the reply
