Annoying hum

Dear Home recording enthusiasts,

I have a Korg D8 that is giving me some hums and clicks when I plug my guitar to its dedicated guitar input. It has never done this before. There's no problem when I connect keys or drum machine using same cables(unbalanced). I notice that if I'm muting the strings, or if I grab the hub of the 1/4" plug while connected to D8, the problem ceases. I have this problem regardless of whether I'm plugged in directly to D8, or plugged into my pedal whose output enters D8.
I'd greatly appreciate anyone's help on this matter. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Sounds like you have a ground problem with your guitar. Make sure that the pickups and strings are properly grounded inside the guitar. There could be a problem with the cable, but i doubt it. hope this helps

I agree that it sounds like something with the guitar, and I had the ground come loose in my Strat a while back and it gave similar problems. Although, if what you mean by grabbing the hub of the 1/4" is that you don't even have the guitar plugged in at that point, then maybe it's not the guitar after all. You have another guitar you can try with it? Borrow one from a friend to try possibly? You said you tried the cables with other equipment, but do you have different cables you can try with the D8? If you have already narrowed it down to the D8 by doing this, then have you moved it recently to another room or plugged it into a different outlet? I've had pedals before that pick up weird interference just from me moving them to a different location in a room. Just throwing out ideas.
