Analog to Digital Recording help plz

I have been reading some of the posts. You guys aren't really newbies are you? You sound very advanced to me.
I am trying to put a big pile of cassette tapes & vinyl records into my computer to burn to CD's. I am not a "Golden Ear" audiophile. I just want a reasonable quality. I bought Roxio Easy CD Creator 6 thinking it would do what I want, but it crashes XP after about 2 min. of recording. The surviving file sounds fine, but I am unable to get past the 2 min. wall. I have been to the Roxio site, no help. Anyone have suggestions for better software? Not too complex, just basic will work for me.

I use Soundforge for such things but it might be a little pricey for your needs. n-Track might work for you.

I use Microsoft's Plus Digital Media software $19.00, it even senses breaks in tracks recorded from cassette.

I really appreciate your responses and advice. It gives me a starting point. Someone else recommended "Goldwave" but at $49 the MS product sounds better.
