analog to digital interface problems

So I went and bought an analog to digital interface and yet I've found another problem I'm only trying to upload two tracks but I can only hear one of the tracks the guitar and faint vocals and the drums appear very faintly. Any suggestions if it helps I recorded these tracks at the same time one is guitar which is on the first track and the second is drums/pa vocals. Also I'm using a tascam portaone and behinger u-control uca202 interface, some help would be greatly appreciated.

Not much information, but is probably in the device (software) mixer that comes with the software no having the levels set correctly, or the track within the software has not got the input selected.

What software is it?

Possibly the sofware mixer but two other ideas:

First off, how have you connected the Port One to the UCA202? You need to take two separate outputs from the Tascam, one to the left input and one to the right. From looking at the photo of the Porta One, I suspect you also have to pan one track hard left and the other hard right to get two separate tracks.

Second, we don't know what software you're recording into but in almost every computer-based software system you have to go to a set up screen and tell it what to record where. In this case it's probably something like specifying UCA202 Left to track 1 and UCA202 Right to track two or something similar.

I'm sure if you post more details of your cabling set up and what you're recording with, somebody will be able to be more specific.

I'm connecting the two the four track recorder from its line out to the uca202 input with rca cables, also I'm using audacity as the software of which to record with.
 
It's years since I played with Audacity but from memory...

Go to File/Preferences/Audio I/O and click record in stereo. You'll need to separate the tracks later if you require two separate ones.

On the Porta One, make sure you route the two tracks you want hard right and hard left on the pan knobs to put the individual tracks into the left and right outputs.

It worked so I'm assuming when actually uploading tracks to a computer you actually pan them the opposite of how you record them?
