Greetings I am a newbie to this forum. I recently completed purchase of DM3200 with IF-FW/DM mk II and Sonar 8.0 Producer. I've had years of analog studio workings (Aardvark / Sonar). I thought it would be easy! Looks like I JUMPED ..not slipped into the volcano. I CANNOT record midi to audio or audio direct. I think I have it all set up right. My midi communication is ok and the ASIO drivers are in place. Bottom line is I cannot figure out how to line up the routing to do the things above. I guess I am a dummie because the manual is confusing. All I need is a simple road map to set up for recording midi to audio. Also listen to midi and recorded audio (different channels ofcourse). Could use some help!!! It would be GREATLY appreciated!!

You'll need to bounce / render the midi track (or whole mix) to waveform. Picture your software as both a midi-sequencer & multi-track machine time-clock-locked together. No amount of playback will magic the midi-synth audio onto the multi-track, you need to record from one to the other or to a stereo master. Try Googling for stuff like 'Sonar render midi' if the supplied documentation isn't helpful enough!

I don't quite understand your other question about playback, though others might!
