You can mixdown analog and use the analog XLR inputs on the back of the DAT. It will do fine. A to D converters are nice to have but not necessary.As you get more involved you may want to purchase an a/d but they are very expensive for a descent one anyway.I dont know what the specs are on your DAT but it should be good enough for what you are trying to do so,unless you have the best of the best, I would rely on the converters that are already in your gear for now.
