You are at the point where you don't know what you don't know. I would do a lot of reading. Right now I would focud on recording one instrument and then recording a second track. You're asking us what car to buy and you haven't even been in a go cart yet... so that is why I am saying to not get ahead of yourself. Go download the n-track demo. Record a few tracks. Fiddle with mixing. Add some effects. Get the basic idea of how all this works first then figure out how your moeny would be best spent.
