Let's see how sharp your detective skills are, purely for fun. ;)

Below is a picture of part of a piece of analog gear. Can you name the make and model?

Put on your Sherlock Holmes hats and get to it!

Cheers! :)

I know it's a teac/tascam product.
Hey, thats a start. Right? :-)

I freely admit I don't know. At first I thought it to be a teac 4 channel meter bridge till I looked at a pic.
But I was wrong, and don't have all day to sleuth around the web. ;-)

Sleuthing around the web may not be necessary. Some may have to look no further then their own studios as I know there are a least a few people here who own this piece of gear!

Cheers! :)

im close, but not there. Syncasette 234 but not quite

Nope, not the 234. I think the 234 has peak LED's in the meter face which aren't present on this one. Also the meter's lense escutcheon/trim kit is very different!

But I like the way you're thinking! Sometimes eliminating suspects is a tried and true detective MO to narrow down the perp list! :)

It aint a 244 or 246 Porta studio.
It aint a 388
It could be one of the various versions of a teac 4 track reel to reel

Ding ding ding ding ding! We have a winner!
You beat me to it while I was searching out the model. :-)

A very sold second place finish! ;)

Turns out this machine was marketed under both names, more-so in Japan though under the teac badge and tascam pretty much everywhere else.

Cheers! :)

I narrowed it down by elimination to a reel to reel unit.
but the boy is too fast for me, or has, or has had one. :-)

Im good with "too fast" LOL

Checked tape machines first. Tascam analog console do not have "input" and "output" near the VU meters.

Then, Most tascam decks have the track number under the right edge of the VU, not centered.

Started through the series's and voila!

Excellent! :)

If you guys are into this sort of game, I can do another one tomorrow...nearing bed time here for this ghost!

Analog Detective Part Deux - Holy Rollers, Batman!

For some, this next case may be way too easy and for others, bafflingly impossible!

I know my analog pretty well.

Only two names had the "cross field heads", Akai and it American branded brother Roberts. Since I can see part of the Akai logo and know that the head knob in the picture is early it didnt take much, LOL.

---------- Update ----------
