just scored an Echoplex & a Roland space echo off of ebay & I can't wait

I'm assuming that it would sound a whole lot different if you drive the record side harder than using a simulation from line6 for eg.

I've never had a tape delay of any sort before other than the simulations by L6

bought basically for studio use & in house concert use as my father has Hughes & Kettner Replexes for live work

heck I'm excited

ive been gathering tape heads to hopefully make one myself
(a. because i dont have money to spend on a pre-existing one, b. for a fun project)

but, congrats on the find, im jealous!

have fun with it and maybe you can post some clips of you using it!

good luck,
noah

I was going to try something like that using cassette decks, but I didn't get it to work properly. ( Dr. Zee did though - http://www.mzentertainment.com/studio_zdlctd105.html )

Eventually I realised that I'd spent more money on the parts than it would cost to get a Watkins Copicat, so I did. Mine is in a bit of a bad shape, but I mostly use it for special effects anyway so it isn't quite so critical. Mine has a motor run/stop switch which can be used to good effect although it tends to cause a pop when used. I also use mine for echo on vocals since owing to its issues it will often introduce distortion.
I'm thinking of replacing the heads, but then I might lose 'that sound' :P

as well as the obvious delay effects. I'm wondering about using it as an analog means of recording a vocal part.............if y'all get what I'm driving at

I'm getting another Revox as parts that are required to fix my present one seem hard to come by

but I wonder about the possibllities within an E/plex & a space echo

boing boing (literally)

YESSSSSSS AYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ooooohhhh congrats!

maybe some clips? ..if they're amazing enough maybe ill save some money up.

OOOOHHHH omigod

my ol' man has had an ebay spree & has purchased another echoplex & a binson echorec 2 :D :D

the space echo needs some TLC as the transport is varying in speed. Echoplex No.1 is being fixorated/serviced by our wizard as will the space echo

hopefully echoplex No.2 & binson will be OK

OH & he bought a B77 revox

it's like freakin' christmas all over again

argh

the binson needs serviced

it works but not completely...................& the transport in the re201 is a touch shady as well

I suppose it's a hazard of buying vintage gear that you to be prepared to potentially spend a lot to get it all fixed & keep it mentained

BTW I saw my 1st magic eye today & they rock TOTALLY ROCK
