The Fender Deluxe Reverb sounds great with a Strat. Nice clean tone. I really like this amp. But, with a Boss DS-1 not that good.

The Fender HRD, had a good clean sound. Not as good as the Deluxe Reverb. But it sounded a lot better with the DS-1 pedal. [/B]
I would first find an amp that sounds great on its own, then worry about matching a distro pedal to it afterwards.

They say they distribute. But you know small companies......everything is tied together. Hell, I am a musician with a record lable and a graphic designer and an advertising agent and even dabbling in webdesign and everything has a different company name :)

lol. I don't think it's the same guys. I think the Saltmine beat me to the punch of getting a cheap amp to use under the guise of being a distributor.

I didn't realize Krank had a website http://www.krankamps.com/main.html

Whats wrong with the DS1. It'll sound good on a Deluxe Reverb. I have a SuperReverb which is 9/10th the same amp an my friends DS1 works perfectly.

I should say though.......an overdrive pedal or fuzz pedal will do more justice to those models than a distortion will.

I am going to try the Tech 21 trademark 60.

They say it sounds pretty close to a tube amp. Can get a lot of sounds from it.

It is lighter, cheaper then a tube amp. Les Paul uses one.

Any comments on this one?

I am looking for an amp that will do nice clean to dirty, for that SRV sound. And Van Halen, Joe Satriani for that Marshall overdrive sound.

It is hard to find an amp that will do this good.

seriously. try to find a rivera knucklehead...i have it and i know it can do what you want.

channel one is the marshall type channel..... and channel 2 is the fender type channel. like i said. you'll have to mess with your gain settings when you switch styles, but you can have the sounds you're looking for in one amp. use channel one as your clean channel for the SRV type sound and channel 2 as your dirty. use channel 2 for your clean and channel one for your lead when your doing your satriani type sound.

both channels also have boosts, so you really have 4 levels of distortion.

they go for about 400 to 600 bucks for the head on ebay. i think the 55 watt ones would probably go for cheaper and are plenty loud for a band practice.

i realise it's a bit more than you want to spend when you consider the cost of a cab, but it's definitely worth looking into....definitely cheaper than buying 2 amps.
and if you already have a cab, then it's about what you intended to spend in the first place.

Where is one supposed to try a Rivera Knucklehead? GC sure doesn't carry them. Infact I live in Phoenix and I don't ever remember seeing a store with them. Phoenix is no small town either. Maybe NewYork or LA, but if your home doesn't have one of two world hubs across the dtreet from it, good luck.......

Thanks. I am going to take a trip down there just to try one out. I keep hearing about Rivera but so far its just one of those companies that doesn't really exsist as far as I have been concerned. :)

I am going with the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Limited Edition Tweed.

With a Jenson 12" speaker.

Where did you find one of those? Is is a re-release?

i got my knucklehead from a relatively small town. i also hear that they're all over seattle. in the used ads at least.

uhmmmm an amp that's even harder to find....... bogner.
i don't think i would be too interested in them, but i hear good things about their clean and distortion channels....it's not that often that people praise an amp for its clean and distorted sound....at least i don't see it often.

You ain't gonna get a super-clean, non-buzzing, killer-sounding tube amp for $400 bucks... that's for sure.

i disagree with that...i picked up a carvin mts3200 used off of ebay for $380. the clean excellent, and the distortion is great, sounds like a 5150 to me, but with a little less gain. also, if set right, theres barely any feedback at all. u can check out the amp at carvin.com.

hey, I just got one of those too, it is awesome. The clean is gorgeous, and it can get pretty nasty too. Between a Strat, a Tele, and a semi-hollow Epi Wildkat with P-90's, it does just about anything I want. I managed to score mine from some kid with rich parents for a tad under $300 US, and then sold my SS Fender Frontman 25R to someone on Ebay for $125... net cost of $175 for the HRDx.
