Hi there, I tried a Spider 2today and quite iked it. My biggest concern isnt really the sounds cos i know they are good,and i already use a POD2 .Its the volume that concerns me a bit to be honest.Ive been using a 100watt Marshall half stack. just a clean sound with the POD doing all the sounds,,and its loud enough for me cos my band dont mic anything up live. Just backline and a vocal p.a. How do you think it fares with that set up,volume wise?
I had the money in my pocket to buy one today but stopped myself cos im not 100%sure.
Only thing im sure about is that im SICK of carying the half stack around!:p

The extra 25 watts difference in a Spider II and a Spider I is definitely noticeable. I use my Spider mostly miked in the studio; in small to medium venues, it more than holds it's own. The 2 well cleanly and clearly put out the volume you need-especially if you use it's "special features". The secret to the Spider is how "u" tweak the settings. Spiders (and Line 6 in general) are a blast.:)

Im really trying to convince myself to get one, but im still scared the drumer and bass player will end up drowning me out cos i dont have the big old half stack behind me.
Whats this about a "secret" then mate?
I might buy one yet.,.
 
There is a "boost/precense" feature that they describe as pushing the amp from volume level 11 to around 12 or 13. You maintain most of the clarity but a little more push. My Spider 1 is plenty loud for me with using this feature but I've tried it a couple of times or two. It really shines when using the crunch or recto models.

There's a compressor feature built in as well a tuner feature (doesn't require the floorboard on the Spider 2) and the snapshot feature that gives all the settings on the presets in case you forget or want to make mods. (A compare feature) There are a few more neat secrets too but .......

Just Buy One:) You really just might be surprised. You mentioned you had a 100 watt Marshall Half Stack: The Spider 2 212 might be what you need. 150 watts Stereo! If you need more than that, I've got an ear doctor friend of mine you might need to see. Don't forget the Spider 2 HD as well.

That all sounds very interesting!
hehe,i hope i dont need an ear doctor,,really.
Its just that we are a 3 piece rock band,
and all we have ever used is an amp each,drums,,
and only the vocals going through a basic p.a,
So thats why im so concerned about the volume side of things you see. I am very tempted to get one, but i only wish i was able to try one in a live settting before i have to commit.
I cant do that obviously,so its still wee bit of a risk.
The more i thnk about it, the more i want it though.

You can probably find at least $50 off the price if you look real hard :)

It seems that £329 for the Spider 212 is a good price then.

Im still leaning towards gettin one,,,,,,we shall see.
