well tonight i took a small tour of the local music shop to check out amps. i found myself wanting a brand new amp. i want to know that all the wear and tear will be from me... plus the store and manufacturer's warrantees come in handy.... i got a pair of open box Event TR-8's for half price because they had a tear in one of the subwoofers.. so i used the manufacturers warrantee and got brand new speakers... sweet huh.. so i like to have that warrantee.

the guy at the shop was showing me a marshall amp ... i didn't have the chance to test'er out.. i thought i'd sit on it a bit and get more advice... i'll most likely stop in tomorrow and try it out...i can't remember the model number.. i believe it had a single 12" speaker though... the nobs were a brass/gold color

Believe it or not, the tiny transistor head that came (do they still make these?) with the Marshall Mini-stacks actually powers a 4x12 and sounds decent, especially in the home environment. Try one (they're cheap), you might save a lot of $$. The Marshall History book refers to pros using them with half-stacks in the studio.

BTW, i mic'ed my amp with a small diaphragm condensor, will i damage the mic doing that?????????

It depends on the mic in terms of how much sound pressure level they can take. Generally though, dynamic mics have been more used to mic guitar cabinets than condensors. It's not out of the question, it depends on the specs of the mic, I believe. Until you look into it, I would hold off.
