I have an EV omni mic with a 4 pin connection.

Anyone have a good link to info on the differences between 4 and 3 pin amphenol connections?

I can find the amphenol 3 pin connector adapters on ebay, but not the 4 pin.

Make your own.

Hi,

I had a Shure 545 with an amphenol connector. I found some nice pins to stick in the little holes and soldered my cable to them. Then I taped it all up. Of course you could use shrinkwrap.

As far as the pinout goes I used the trial and error method. But if you go to coutant.org and find your mic he probably has the spec sheet as a pdf.

I used it this way for years until it broke. Now I only have my 545 with XLR.

What mic is it? I'm an EV fanatic.

Thanks,

Hairy Larry

Larry, It's not in front of me, but I beleive it's a 603.

I also have a shure 545, with an xlr out.

My favorite is my JT-30 :)

Haven't recroded with the Astatic, though.

theres a place that sells them online but they're $$. sorry I dont remember the link.

erm.. that's 630....

I had the 4 pin source at one time

It was Tom's Mics in Dallas.

That was back in 2000, though. I just emailed him (the email address I had) to see if he's still around.

Anybody in Dallas here know?

Btw

even back then, you had to get it wired for low impedance.

Found him!

Tom Ellis, of Tom's Mics.

email: tomsmics@flexcomp.com

Here's part of what he just told me:

"I sell the premade cables at 18' in length, wired high or low impedance, $45 total price including shipping in the US. Can quote for other lengths. I also have some loose 4 pins here, $10 each plus $2 shipping, that you can wire up how you like.....TOM"
