i need a loud amp for a sound kind of like Against Me! kinda punk rock, clean sounding for like 200 bucks. im gonna be usuing a fender strat, any ideas? also if the amp doesnt have any effects, any idea on pedals for normal distortion? thanks!

that looks awesome. i might make a bid on it. Any other suggestions? i was tihkning of getting a mxr distortion plus. good? no?

If you can afford it, I highly recommend the MXR Doubleshot Distortion, I use one through a clean amp and it does a pretty good range of distortions, and all really well, however the MXR distortion plus is not bad, but I'd definitely go with the doubleshot if you could afford it.

Try the VOX Pathfinder with reverb. Great little amp that is loud. It has an great sound!

Your aren't going to find an amp for 200 bucks that has effects adn is nice. so get a foot pedal..GFX 707

$200 + loud = something used and more than likely solid state.

I'm thinking something along the lines of the old fender m-80.
here's one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38074&item=7309568496&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

As for pedals, the boss ds-* might be the sort of sound you are after. Also maybe chekout the big muff (fuzz) or the boss od-* (overdrive).
I used to have one of those M-80's. Loved that thing! And it's carpeted...oooohhhh....

i might get a fender princeton chorus which is like 120 watts fore like 150 from a friend, does that sound any good? would it be able to play live shows?

It should be. Its got 2 12" speakers right? That should give you enough lowend to be happy too.

I have that same amp! It works great for live shows. Just plug in to the board and use the amp as your monitor. It's got great tone.

does it have an out also so i can maybe get a cab and use it as a head later on?

It should. if not, just pull the internal speakers from the output jack and hook that up to the cab. Most Fenders I have encountered have the internal speaker connected with a 1/4" jack.

awesome, so is this a good buy for a 1990'sish fender strat to play in a band thats gonna be playing live shows?

If it sounds good it is.
