Stand Up Comity
Do you like using one? How do you like to aim it? I've got a 112 combo, and if I use a stand I won't have to bend over to adjust anything.

Love it
I made one from some 1" X 2" pine stock and stained dark. Took me all of about 1/2 hour to complete. I have it slightly pitched back and at a height that allows me to adjust the knobs without bending.
Get one, you will be happy!!

This month's Guitar Player suggested you just throw your amp on top of an old rubbermaid bin. Doesn't look nice, but gets the job done and holds all your stuff too

Amp stands are cool. I love the look of AC30's in their stands.

maybe that answers a question I posted a while back. I have a friend that has a Vox BerkleyII from the late 60`s . The cab is mounted inside a chromed tubular stand and has knobs on each side so you can tilt it.The head sits on top of the stand and locks down on it. This is an AC30?

Nope, I know the Super Beatle pretty well. The amp my buddy has is a BerkleyII. On the Vox site in the archives it only shows the Buckingham in the chrome frame. This amp looks just like the Buckingham though. It is still in showroom condition.

Angled amp stands are great teachers. They can make guitar players realize things no amount of talking to them can.

I use a stand religiously. You don't really know what an amp sounds like until its off the ground.

Yep, that's pretty much how it went tonight. There was a couple of guitar players there that are leagues beyond me, so there wasn't much to do. We were playing outside and it was WAY HUMID! I had fun, but it would've been good if we could've gotten together to practice beforehand.

Back in the 70's I used to manufacture amp stands, they were collapseable and chrome plated, I made a heap of them for a company that made Gunn amps in New Zealand. Which were a combo about the same size as a Twin.
Not long after I started making them the NZ importers of Fender called me and asked me to make for them too. The Gunn company objected to that and said that I had an obligation to them first and so I declined the Fender importers and then the bugger didn't pay me for ages then a couple of shipments later didn't pay at all so I quit making them and gave my tube bending equipment to a friend who had a small workshop.
I eventually found that amp stands are just one more bit of gear to carry and set up and found it easier to use a chair from the venue.

I forgot, another disadvantage I found was that using a stand on many stages put the amp at head level of the audience.
Now if you like complaints about loud this is a sure fire way to get them.
Tilt legs would be good, that way you could get an earful and it would go over the crowds heads, might solve the too loud bit too.

I actually used to use a saxophone stand as an amp stand. It tilted it back just the right way for my little fender champ. I had also used a keyboard stand to raise the amp to chest-level, but that didn't sound too great. Plus, I was afraid it would fall off at that height.

I use two amp stands at church, and it allows me to tilt my amps up facing towards me so I can hear myself better. Overall, good for keeping the stage volume down. I can reach the knobs MUCH easier too. Since they are mic'd I don't know how they really sound out front, as I am also shooting them off to the side too and not directly forward. From where I stand, they are cranked and I really like the sound (and mix) I am getting. You walk forward about 30 feet and realize the soundman has total control. For little amps, I highly recommend them for purposes such as this. Now..a full stack!!

i heard something about how if your amp is off of the ground and isolated it sounds better too. like if you put a foam thing under it like they do for monitors.... is this true? i guess it just prevents other things in the room from rattling or whatever?
