Thanks Diesel.
ANOTHER discovery: I turned on the amp; master and volume (both normal and overdrive channels) at half way. my four effects pedals were all connected via 1/4" leading to my voume pedal on which the guitar goes in. the effects run on a Line-1 daisy chain. It was NOT plugged in the wall. Very minor wash sound; normal.
Then, all I did was plug in the Line-1 into the wall; no effects were turned on. The wash sound was much louder; beyond reasonable. The compression pedals merely amplify that noise further. So, it's not the pedals and it's not the amp.
Anyone have this specific issue? Is it a ground issue? Do I simply need some kind of grounded surge protector to run through?
