ambient mic

Anybody know of a good ambient mic, omnidirectional for recording everything in its vicinity? My house doesn't have windows (it's tropical, and has shutters) so all the jungle noises come in anyway - crickets, birds, frogs, rain (sometimes even the animals themselves come in) - so rather than fight it, I figure I'll go with the flow and work tropic sonics into the mix - hang the mic out the window while I record. Very organic, yes?

Go for an Earthworks TC30K (F.R. flat to 30k) or TC40K (F.R. flat to 40k). If you need more sensitivity and reach, go for the QTC1 (a TC40K with more sensitivity and reach).
