Ok, so from the above track we've established that I can't make beats.

Ok, so from the above website and tracks on the website, we've also established that I can't rap.

So why am I here? Because I want to get some idea's, and learn. So, listen to my songs on the 2nd link and give me advice, how to make the chorus on "I wanna find love" better, and how to make the songs better, over-all. I want opinions on all the songs, good or bad.

Please, tell me what I can do to enhance the songs. All opinions are welcome.

Also, do I have any potential, at all?

I think its you, dude. How can you make yourself better?

1. Find some rhythm. I'm quite alright with people with no rhythm. Take the B-52s. Fred had little rhythm, but he was unashamed of it. You sound like you want to be hardcore but are apologizing for your lack of rhythm.

2. Go buy all of the MC Paul Barman albums.

3. Get life experience. Your lyrics are ehhhhh... Why should I listen to you?

4. Back off the mic or turn your pre down. By the way, what kind of microphone are you using? It sounds like ass.

5. Turn your vocals down?

6. Eh...

Start with this Aesop Rock lyric (who, if you haven't heard, you really need to look up....Float, Labor Days are bangin albums...some brainy ass hiphop there)

"...drove the metronome home..."

I didn't listen to anything because I'm on dial-up but as far as making beats goes, just practice and listen to as much music as you can. Sometimes it helps to pick out a song you like, reverse engineer it, figure out how its put together and then actually rebuild it using whatever sounds you have that sound close. It'll help you get an idea of how the big boys do things. Also don't sweat sucking, I had a friend that made beats and his shit was fucking terrible. No timing at all, weird bleeps and bloops everywhere, just unlistenable shit. After about 3 years of listening to his friends say "um, yeah that's great man", he started learning and actually got really good. So practice, and then practice some more. If you stick with it you'll get it, and then you can listen back(like my friend does) and laugh and make fun of yourself.

If you made all those beats...you're good. Rapping's not really your thing though. I don't know what race you are, but you sound really white...if that's a bad thing to you. I'm not a fan of the style, and the rhymes, they're kind of middle schoolesque. Also, some of the rhythms in your lyrics (I've listened to "We Miss You" and "Wann find Love") are a little weird, you need to write the parts with a little more flow, in some spots you tried to fit more words in than beats, without really changing the flow, so it ends up with "na-nana-na-na-nananana," that nanananaa being where you try to fit more words in.

Like I said, man if you made those beats, I think that's your place, those are great beats. I've had a lot of shitty rappers in my studio with weak beats that they all loved, so I've heard shit beats, but those you have are great.

I don't think you're that far off, really.

All you need to do is get someone to write your material for you.

And someone else to peform it, too.

Then you'll be all set.

I'm not going to quote all of you and make a message for each individual, because that seems to take too much time. But, what I will do is do a reply.

So, here I am.. realizing.. that maybe I shouldn't have spent 100 dollars on my Microphone because I have no potential and I should stop right now.

The microphone that I used in those recordings, was a microphone from Wal-mart that I bought about 8 years ago. I bought a new one, due to that.

Now that I realize from everyones point of view, I have no talent, I should quit. I understand 100%.

I made the first beat, I made the beat in "We Miss You", but the wanna find love one, was a friends. I have no talent, because in the first beat, the orchestral part was pre-made. I added the beat (Snare and Kick/HiHats) The 2nd beat, again, the orchestra was pre-made, I added the beat/snare/hihat. I can't do anything, BUT, that.

I'm lacking the ingenuity to make an incredible orchestral part/ chorus part. Etc.

So, now that I have realized this, I appreciate all of your comments, I have taken them to heart, I will save all my songs, but I will stop rappin'.

Also, to the one that asked, I am white, I'm incredibly white, I thought I had talent for being white. Writing talent, that is. But, apparently I don't.

Thanks for showing me how worthless I am, I appreciate it.

Take care.

Bye.

i think you should stick to making beats. you got some pretty decent arrangements. the rapping is not very good though. but the beats are not bad at all. you don't need to write orchestral parts for your song, i don't think any rappers actually do, everything is sampled anyway. it's just in how you arrange the samples you are working with, and if the drum beat makes it work. and it looks like you are capable of doing that. so i say keep making those beats.

Thanks, a little bit of "GOOD" criticism, I suppose you could call it. I'll look into it.

Shouldn't you be out on a ledge somewhere???

Keep doing what you love.
You're not going to learn much with an "I'm going to quit" mentality.
If you love what you're doing with your music, then keep it up!

You're kind of sounding like those American Idol people who freak out over criticism. If you're here to learn, learn. If you're here for sympathy, good luck. The reason why I enjoy this message board is because the people here 1. know what they are talking about, and 2. aren't afraid to be honest. When I make something and show it off, I appreciate an honest opinion. I want to know if it sucks. I want to know if it's good. Sure, I'll get upset if someone tells me, "hey man, this blows...," but I don't stop doing what I enjoy because of some harsh/honest criticism.

Honestly, I enjoyed the first link you posted a lot. Who wrote the strings part?

Did you just see that chick on American Idol give the big speech...that was funny, she practiced that shit! It reminded me of what Re-Lapse said.

What I meant by what I said, was I will discontinue trying to get into the production of albums and what not, am I quitting? no. I don't give up that easy, for christs sake I came here the last time and I couldn't write a lick, I'm learning slowly.

I'm still going to produce albums, for personal use, I love Music too much to just say.. "oh I suck? I better quit.." No, That wasn't my intention, I suppose I should have been slightly more precise. I knew I wasn't that great, my friends kept incouraging me, and I came here because I knew I would get encouragement if it was actually worth it.

I know I'm a terrible rapper, to be honest I thought my lyrics weren't that bad, but then again..I don't know a whole lot.

I love my music, I love making it, and I love everything in it in every sense. There is no quitting for me, but it has moved from a career to a hobby. I never saw myself as the next Eminem, and I knew I probably would never be. Could I be, if I wanted to? Of course I could, I could work on this night and day and get so good that I'm making 50 grand a month. But that's not what I'm after, I'm after the fact that I want someone outside of friends and family to agree, that I have talent.

So, I'm taking every comment to heart, and I'm going to continue producing music, but I won't be showing it until "I" like it. If "I" don't like it, Nobody else will.

I never said I was good, so I will take everything ya'll have said to heart. I appreciate it, alot. I'm going to stick around and keep reading all that I cant o learn, and I want to get into the production business of creating beats, as a hobby.

This isn't my profession people, I'm a computer geek, not a rapper, not a Dr. Dre Junior, I'm nothing more than a geek pushing his diversity.

I tried, I failed. I'll continue, and try again. Feel me?

I apologize for the inconvenience.

No, I'm not going to go stand on a ledge and jump. I'm not an idiot, I wasn't precise, it hurt, to hear that, but I now realize it's the truth, and that's really all I was after.

Again, Thanks.

Much appreciated, the criticism that keeps me going. Sympathy? No, But telling me what I can do to change it and make it better, would be nice. Rather than, it sucked. But yea. My buddy wrote the strings part, and he knew I was good at the rest, so he sent me his FL File, and I worked with it, took me about 30 minutes and I threw it up and that was the outcome, there is a lot of rendering I would have liked to do to it, but I was merely on the demo, so I had to do it, and do it well.

But, as I said in my previous post, I'm going to continue because I love Hip Hop, I love Music in general, I was in a band before (Drummer), and I have a lot of ingenuity left in me, that I need to out voice. So, I'm going to do so.

I think you are a 17 year old white kid in montana (who seems to resemble Jack Osbourne), and it shows. But hey, everyone has to start somewhere. ;) Do you think great rappers just materialize out of nothing? It takes a lot of fucking hard work, determination, balls, failure and life experience to get anywhere in the industry.

You really need to ask yourself: is rapping is something that you are truly passionate about and how driven you are to succeed? What are your ultimate goals? You already seem like you're ready to give up. If that's the case, maybe you weren't that into it to begin with. Maybe making beats, producing, etc. are more your venue. Maybe something completely different.

If you are truly determined, study it and live a little. I'm not saying you have to join a gang, but you have to find your voice. Then you have to hone your craft....A lot. Good luck.

I think he should join a gang.

At least then he'll be hardened up a bit and just might pop a cap in anyone's ass that disses his skillz. Ya feelin' me?

Ok, So I was stupid, I shouldn't have said anything about quitting, because I'm not.
let me emphasise it..

I'M NOT QUITTING

I'm going to continue making beats, I'm going to continue rapping. I'm going to continue writing, I'm going to continue it all.

All I was saying was, I wasn't really in it for the "business"/"career". I was in it for a hobby, as it will remain. The reason I came here, is for help, assistance and encouragement to get better and continue on. My friends said I was fairly good, listenable, and I could get somewhere if I continued. So I took their advice and took it to a higher level, by coming to where someone, well, alot of people know what they are talking about..

I appreciate EVERYTHING everyone has said, it's helped me tremendously.

But, before I even start to work on my songs again, and record, and all that I have one more question.

For those of you who actually know what you're talking about, and those of you that have actually listened to any of the songs on my MySpace.

DO I HAVE POTENTIAL?

Or am I at the stage of where it'd be like putting a retard in the rap game and expecting him to do good?

:D Thanks again.

P.S. - [!] I'm [!] Not [!] Quitting [!]
