I was doing some of my occasional late night web cruising, researching different studios (mostly out of boredom) and I came across something that wouldn't be so connective right off the bat, but I feel may be cool to some.

Anyway, I was doing some reading on NRG and they mentioned Good Charollette finishing a new album at thier studio A. So for some reason (don't ask me why), I go to GC's page, and sure enough they have a video on thier front page with scenes of sessions at NRG. It's not a how to video, but I'm always interested in the production side of it.

I always find it to be kind of cool to read up on a studio and then see work being done there, so I figured I'd share that here. With an observant enough eye and some reading of the gear list, you can see some of the gear they work with, some of the micing techniques and recording techniques they use while keeping the gear list in mind. Then you can see it in action on the GC video. They even show a few screen shots of the pro tools session, which kind gives an idea of how hot they track. It looked like drum tracks to me. They even show a quick shot of the producer Don Gilmore's custom flight case, however, no way to know what gear he had in it.

I believe they worked on the Neve 8086 console.

Anyway, if you're bored like I was and find the idea remotely interesting, check it out:

and on a side note,

turn off the radio player to hear what they say in the video.

Thanks for the post. Not a Good Charlotte fan, but I really love in-studio footage.
