yeah I played the HD28 at our local music store the other day. I compared just about all the guitars in there and then sat and played the 28 for about 2 hours. Man it was nice. Aren't the d28 and the hd28 the same guitar except for the Herringbone inlay work? I really don't care to pay for artwork. Just give me that sound. < Saving up >

I'll take the artwork AND the sound. My two main babies are my Martin D-41 and Taylor XXV-GA. In a word, "nice".:D

It's the same body size (Dreadnaught) with different wood and trim. It's a few models up the ladder. Both the 28 and the 41 have a Rosewood back and sides but the 41 has a bound fingerboard (ebony) and the purfling is mother of pearl and also the rosette. The headstock and fret markers are inlaid abalone. Very nice guitar. The Taylor I just picked up and this beast has some SERIOUS inlay on the fingerboard

I played a bunch of acoustics at Mars in Dallas some time ago - several high-end Gibsons - and then played a Taylor ( I think a 414C - something like that ). The Taylor sounded better ( about $1400 ) than the $3000 Gibsons to me. I am going to go examine some Taylors before I buy.

The D41 is like 99.9999999999999% the same basic setupas the HD 28. Better binding and still has the Heringbone inlay on the back. Even the funny angle thing were the headstock meets the neck.

Yeah, the "arrow head" carved on the neck/headstock joint.
