Anyone had any experiences using ALTO products? I'm primariliy interested in their 4-channel compressor/limiters but generally curious about their other products as well.

Thanks

No audio experiences yet. I did physically pick one of the 1/4 sized rack boxes (the comp and the dual mic pre) up to examine it :D . It seemed pretty damn cheap...the buttons were not spaced properly in the holes, and the ones that were wiggled...these were straight out of the box and not scratch n dent. Who know's though...they might sound fine.

I have no direct audio experience with them, but I doubt they're worthwhile.... I've found that if a company can't be bothered to get the external machining/fascia done right, then there's little reason to beleive they'll get the insides right!!

Alto is an Italian Company that recently opened up shop in China because of the same reasons everyone else is doing it. Its a matter of surviving as a business. The problem I heard is that they are better than Behringer and yet the Behringer quality problem is being hard on sales for Alto. Im sure that once they get a grasp on getting the Chinese to tighten up the tolerances things will be fine. I did see a review in Tape-Op on Alto and it was positive. If your looking for just a finctioning product they will be fine, but if you want character with minimal artifacts it may not be.

Im always looking for cheap gear and I saw some ST Audio stuff that looks alot like presonus but a little fancier. More money though.

Awe heck, Ill just get another RNC!

SoMm

A friend of mine with an audio store got a couple of the dual comps in to put on the shelf. One was DOA, but the one that did work, we put put through its paces and it performed quite admirably. But it's no RNC ;)
