I thought I read here quite a while back that there was something you could buy at a hardware store that would work as good as an ADC punch down tool for those punch connections on the back of an ADC patchbay. I did a couple of searches but didn't find anything. Any ideas? I kind of needed something today and didn't want to wait for delivery. Besides- they're kinda pricey for what they do. Thanks.

If you can solder, i would solder your wires to the contacts on the punch block. Much better connection and will last longer.

If not I don't know what tool you are talking about.

Certain puch blocks a small flathead screwdriver works great, and some definately need the right tool!

You can buy a punch down tool at most any of the mega hardware stores out there. On the ADC, is it punch down or wire wrap?

It's a punch down tool that strips, cuts, & sets the wire in the contacts. I went ahead and ordered the $55 one from Mr. Patchbay. It's spring-loaded and I guess a little easier to use than the one that I broke. Anyway Mr. Patchbay says he'll buy it back from me if I like when I'm done cause I bought my patchbay from him. If it works well I'll probably keep it though. Thanks for the input. I'd thought about soldering but each contact is kind of recessed down in a tiny plastic box & I'd probably make a mess.
