Took some of the advice I got from the last song I posted. Still trying to get the vox to fit in the mix better. It sort of has that autotune sound, though I don't have autotune. Oh well. General comments would be great too :)

It's sort of a melodic alternative metal song. I hate the term alternative but I don't know what else to call it.

Thanks! :)

Sounds great to me... just wondering how you recorded the guitar? What steps did you take? And the drums sound great too... did you record drums in a large room??

Thanx,

Thanx,

i think it's triggers, drumagog, or sound replacer. i'd bet triggers. no drummer is that consistant.

DISCLAIMER: i'm not saying that triggering is a bad thing. for that kind of music i might do it too. and i'd love to have drumagog, or soundreplacer.

sounds really good.

Nope and nope. Drums aren't real at all. They are hand programmed in FLStudio. I can't play drums for the life of me, nor would I be able to play them in my apartment even if I could. :D I layered them a few times to thicken them up, and EQ'd and compressed some of it. The reverb on the drums is actually the reverb from FLStudio. I don't normally use that verb and use a plugin in pro tools, but forgot to turn it off and it sounded ok.

The guitar is a 50 watt Kustom mic'd with a single sm57 into the ol' Mbox, but at a fairly low volume. Kinda sucks because I can't crank it. I tried covering the amp with comforters and pillows and other bedroom items, hoping to dampen the sound and turn the amp up, but it didn't really work. I might try putting it in my closet next. I used my Schecter 7 string for this song. (I know I know... a nu metal instrument!!!! but I bought it as a toy and I kinda like it :))

Thanks for the comments :)

wow its like carcass meets bad religion.

ahh the good ol 57, it always does the job.

nice progrmming on the drums man, that sh_t feels fairly real for being a machine.
and the vox sound goodgood.
BUT, if could retrack those guitars with more amp volume.
AND make that bass growl a little bit(as opposed to being so clean)
youd be in demo heaven dude.

uhh...maybe.

late

I like it... sounds great to me...
Great job on the drums... Guitars are great too, imo.

this sounds great... good job...

love the guitars... maybe a tad too much reverb... maybe not.

immediately reminded me of CKY once the drums kick in.

during the fast kick rolls they do sound triggered.

good song...

great song i think the guitars could be more bright cuz they dont seem to fit so well in the mix everything else is great
peace

Freaking kickass song. I'll learn the drums and record with you one day. ;)

Wish my drums sounded that way. (One of our songs will be up soon, you'll see)

By any chance, did you get your inspiration from Killswitch Engage?

;)

Somewhat, I listened to End of Heartache for about a month straight when it came out. Also been listening to Unearth a bit.

Weird...I was going to ask if you're a Thrice fan.

Good tune.

I am also a Thrice fan.

Who get a lot of inspiration from Killswitch nonetheless. :D

I think the drum sound is the best (and definitely Killswitch Engage worthy!)

As a guitarist, I'm the most critical in this area. I don't like the low volume-thing going on. It lacks power and depth. I also think that your guitar rig needs some revamping as far as EQ and compression. Compress the hell out of it and drop more mids. I want to feel the low end of the guitar lead the song.

Vocals are a bit low and non-committal. The heavier backing is better, but the lead needs to come up a bit and be more emotional? I hear some Helmet influence in the vocals. Listen to what they do and try to copy it.

The intro is the weakest: if you are going to record an intro like that, try keeping it as dry and heavy as possible during recording, then use comp, EQ, and a good delay to fatten the guitar sound up.

I like the song, just being over-critical on the mix. (and I wish I had your drum sampling skills!)
