I'm back. Everything was going great. Recording up a storm. Virus wiped out my system, was able to save music files but can't remember WHAT THE HELL y'all told me about HOW to get all these components working together. DRAGON!!! I believe you gave me a wonderful laundry list of what to have checked and unchecked in the Audio files in Cakewalk, and some other LOVELY user provided me with the same for the Global Edit Mode on the Alesis and it all worked quite well. Please HELP. I'm ready to Rock n' Roll again. I've been down 2 weeks. GOING BONKERS!!!

GOTTA GET THESE SONGS OUTTA MY HEAD!!!

Thanks all from the first time round, can ya get me up and runnin' again???

MShea

You might have better luck searching for the posts by topic or user if the originals weren't personal emails to you.

UG!

I've ALREADY done that. No luck. The settings were pretty specific and given to me by users who ran across similar 'issues' using the Alesis QS 7.1 and Cakewalk. I've fixed the Aardvark 'issue' on my own. Hopefully some Alesis Guru out there will respond.

Priceless!!!

Alesis QS7.1...$1,000.oo

Aardvark DirectPro 24/96...$500.00

Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.0...$0.00

Computer...$1,500

Throwing a temper tantrums, pressing buttons and getting all this stuff to work again...

PRICELESS!!!

Thanks

Hey, I managed to get it up and running again. Still have no clue. And I wonder how the hell I've been searching, I was looking all over for those thread???!!!?? Thank you. My problems are solved. And...I've PRINTED out the threads and stashing them in the file cabinet for safe keeping.

No Problem...

I assumed that you had started the threads, so I searched for all of your posts by your user name (top right side of the search screen. The rest Was easy...

Glad to hear you're back in business. Nothing worse than spending weeks getting everything working and loosing it all in a split second!!

I agree!!!

Weeek? Notice the dates on the posts...MONTHS!!! I was/ AM a COMPLETE newbie. I got SICK of people pimping me for lyrics and or riffs and losing my sound in exchange for studio time...so...I said how hard could it be to record from home. It was a WHOLE LOT more than I expected...I didn't realize i needed to be engineer, and artist. But hey. It gives me a whole new respect for how this is made and the more I know...the better my writing gets. Still having issues finding my 'sweet spot'. Levels are rough but I'm getting there. Thanks

Yeah... Everyone start's in the same place... the very beginning.

Once you get past the technical "engineering" aspect of the mix... you'll understand how much "art" is still involved in preserving a performance for future enjoyment. Be careful not to get so deep technically that you loose the art. Anyone can learn the mechanics of sound engineering, but only the truly gifted were born with the "ear" for it.

Good Luck,

Steve

Thank you. So true

Yeah. You are correct. And unfortunately. I've realized that I'm one of those challenged musicians who can't quite seem to be technical and creative at the same time. I've been 'fixing' things...then writing, recording, making a laundry list of 'things to fix, things to buy, things to learn. Then taking time out to fix, buy and learn until I can't take it anymore and flop back into creation mode...re-do previous arrangements that sound stupid after additional gadgets or knowledge kick in and write some more. It's a neverending cycle. At first I kept on buying stuff. I've now gotten to the point where I've put my foot down with myself and sworn NOT TO BUY any more studio equipment for the next 6 months and just write...so far so good. Although I really want a new effects processor and a new bass amp would be groovy too. But I'm stickin' to my guns. Wish me luck and thanks once again.
