Does anyone know when Alesis will get around to shipping parts to their service centers. I have had my ADAT LX20 at a local support center here in MN for almost 3 months now. I call them once a week to see if they've gotten my part yet. What is going on?

Alesis= Chapter 11 BUSTED

I have heard a few horror stories about the past few months. Just cross your fingers and hope they get bought out..

Alesis guy

Um, Shakes, Chapter 11 does not = BUSTED. That is Chap 7.

We went through a Chapter 11 Reorg and Protection, and it ended yesterday. We were bought by Numark, and are back on line and things look really bright (we had a meeting with the principles yesterday and I really liked what I heard).

mncheetah, what was the Parts order number? Let me know and I will get it pushed through (if it is in stock of course).

thanks,

Mike

it does happen

Thanks to mnicoletti, my ADAT which got sent in for repair WAY before chapter 7 finally got in to me a couple of days ago, so I know they are working on stuff and getting it done...

Now if I just had enough good songs to justify recording an album...(sigh)

Thank you for the recognition, RB...it was very nice of you. It was a pleasure to be able to do this for you. :)

Let's not jump to conclusions, Ed. We had a meeting with the Numark principles and their first questions were about customer service and what I would like to see at Alesis. From all indications, we are staying intact. If anything, some needed process improvements will finally happen.

thanks,

Mike

mnicoletti, the Alesis rep at the shop told me that ever since the chapter 11 thing they are not getting the parts order number faxed back to them, however, I do have the purchase order number and the Alesis part number...

The part is a main board for an ADAT LX-20
part # 9791374
Purchase Order - 1042506

Thank you SO much!

Hey mike, good luck with Numark! Thier DJ mixers are not all that good, so I hope Numarks Tekkies don't screw around with the ADAT format and the HD24!

Best of luck to U and Alesis!

I am no business genius here Mike. But, Alesis has not been profitable obviously for some time now. I am sure there is debt, as well as now Numark wanting to make their money for purchasing the technology back. I am not sure if Numark trades stock on the market, but if they do, they now have the extra burden of stockholder earnings to contend with. I forsee many of those "expensive" areas of doing business getting the ax. You know, customer service and Quality Control, the later being something Alesis was weak in anyway. Not being intimate with the details of how such a visible company with so much product out on the market could flounder so quickly, maybe I am missing something here. Care to elaborate on that?

Far too many of Alesis's product were either quirky, or downright horrible for me to trust that another company who is known for some of the cheapest DJ equipment on the market is going to somehow make Alesis fly. I am a buyer that was burned too many times with your product line.

Whistling in the dard doesn't help you find the lightswitch any faster and only sends a clue as to where the rats can find you....;)

hmmm - now this is a business thread

Not to turn this into a business thread, buy my experience with merging companies is that you end up cutting internal support and middle management (guys like payroll and fat cats who just look important all day) -

You combine the departments that support external processes and you trim where you are duplicating efforts....that certainly won't be in the product line, as I don't think Alesis and Numark duplicate or compete anywhere.

But what do I know....I'm a tech grunt - but I've been laid off twice and helped a third company merge their technologies, so I've had more then my share of company turmoil the last two years.

Hi, Ed and RB,

Thank you both for your well-thought-out replies. Wow, if you guys are right, I better keep posting for Alesis while I still can! ;)

Actually, Ed, this did not happen quickly; problems in business tend to build until they get out of hand if not addressed in a timely manner. 'Nuff said.

Our former International Marketing Manager once said that Numark was very respected in Europe and I had just bought a Numark turntable for my parents in NYC back in December (an omen?) and they said it was solid and worked great, and my Mom is pickier than I am. :p Were your product experiences recent?
