Anyone have any experience with Alesis mixers? I'm thinking about getting a Studio 24?

Thanks in advance!

I have a Studio 24. Its really pretty decent in terms of sound quality/functionality for the price. I've heard horror stories about the build quality of Alesis mixers but haven't had a problem yet and I've used mine for about 2 1/2 years save a little scratchiness in the pots/faders (which probably just need cleaning). I don't use mine to mix so I'm thinking about getting rid of it and just getting some better outboard pres myself for more colors and better sound (I have an RNP reserved :) :) ).

FWIW all my stuff at www.mp3.com/castrato uses the preamps almost exclusively.

For all I know, it could be a perfectly fine mixer. But some of Alesis's past efforts have been less than stellar, to put it diplomatically. Having been bitten once, I'd personally be a little reluctant to plunge my hand back in THAT piranha tank...

I'm with LD on this one. I haven't used any of their newer mixers but their older ones were so cheap looking and feeling that I would never trust one.

I had a Studio 24 for a while and hated everything about it except the price and 8 direct outs.

I don't have an Alesis mixer (and never have), so I'm free of both prejudice and knowledge ...

I have heard the stories about the really terrible old model (1622 was the model number? something like that). I don't know that I'd hold that against Alesis too much. I think they must have learned something from that. My understanding is that the Studio 24 and 32 are decent for the price. Not exactly the greatest thing ever, but not priced that way either.

hmmmmm...... don't suppose you ever heard of a little $8000 item called the X-2? Ahh, SJJ, what i wouldn't trade to have that state of innocence too....:(

I have been using a studio 24, and I'm happy with it. it was definitely inexpensive. Right now you can buy the studio 32 for 600 bucks on musicians friend, and i'd say that it is worth at least that much.
